The first snowfall of the year!
An adventurous couple from Seattle, Roxanne and Nicholas Corff, arrived in Bolzano by train from Germany, ready for some hiking in late-October. We headed for the Dolomiti, knowing the weather would be variable at that time of year.
The following morning we awoke to fresh snow on the ground and it was still coming down. Undeterred, we took off up a valley I explored last summer and had a wonderful hike amongst all the trees laden with fresh snow.
We warmed up with a round of schnaps when we returned to our gasthof in Sesto. Fortunately, the weather cleared and we had two more lovely days in the mountains before driving to Tuscany.
